Beornwulf the Bold goes to the Northlands ....

Beornwulf the Bold had crossed the sea to the Northlands to visit his cousin; their ship had been thrown on-shore by a violent storm. Beornwulf had gathered together the survivors and and moved south across the low mountains, the going was tough with lots of snow with dark cloudy weather...
A lone wolf on a nearby hillside howled..
as they turned to see it the wolf ran off. A little further on the clouds cleared and a little pale sunlight shone on the party - then by a rock near some trees a strange beast appeared half man, half horse ....
this turned out to be a centaur who had been alerted to their plight by a local mage - he agreed to guide them to safety...after about an hour they reached the edge of the snowfields. Here you are friends said the centaur 'the northern edge of the Kingdom of Noggin of the Nogs'...
the Centaur wished them well on the the rest of their journey and trotted off towards a nearby forest; Beornwulf and his party headed towards a village theycould see in the distance .......

Sven Eriksen and the Golden Temple of the Norns - part 2 (of 2)

Sven Eriksen's viking warriors after clearing the village encountered more resistance from the temple warriors blocking their way on a rocky outcrop .... (see previous post)

 ---oXo---
Sven draws up his men facing the rocky outcrop and sends some men to see if they can get through the woods to the left
The vikings have found their way through the wood and the temple warriors seeing themselves outflanked start to fall back; the vikings who got through the wood head for the Golden Temple.
The temple warriors fall back to a rocky hilltop to make a stand there as the vikings continue their deliberate advance....
The vikings move across the causeway to the temple, when the others confront the temple warriors ...
The defenders of  the temple island get ready for the fight .....
The defenders hold the far causeway but the vikings have broken through on the right....
The defenders are hard pressed on the other two causeways, now being attacked in the rear as well ..
The defenders go down fighting, the vikings mop up ....
The temple warriors are surrounded on the rocky hilltop,  the vikings keep them penned in ....
Sven Eriksen reaches the island, his men are trying to locate all the treasure and are threatening the temple priest...
They have the temple treasure chest, Sven orders one of his men to use his axe and knock off the head of the gryphon statue - Sven reaches inside and pulls out a scroll - this is the second of the clues to the location of the 'Whorled Cup' .....

 ---oXo---

Sven and his men leave the temple and withdraw back to their ships picking up some more booty from the village on the way (the temple warriors let them pass - they have no stomach for any more fighting)...

Where will Sven and his men have to go to find the next clue to the location of the 'Whorled Cup' ?

Sven Eriksen and the Golden Temple of the Norns - part 1

Sven Eriksen moves towards Golden Temple of the Norns, continuing his quest for the clues to the location of the 'Whorled Cup'....
---oXo---

The lookout on the rocky outcrop spots the vikings approaching  the village ...
The vikings work their way slowly down the hill, seemingly in no hurry ....
The lookout continues to sound the alarm, men are roused from the great hall and are coming outside ...
All is quiet at the Golden Temple of the Norns...
The vikings near the outskirts of the village
meanwhile warriors assemble outside of the great hall..
the vikings move slowly into the village and encounter resistance
the warriors move forwards to take position on the rocky outcrop ....
 fighting continues in the village....
the villagers appear to be doing well ...
but not for long, they are outnumbered and outflanked and start to fall back to the rocky outcrop to join the warriors from the great hall....
A viking beserker rushes the rocks, he is cut down by a mighty axe blow .....
Sven Eriksen pauses his men and sizes up the situation ....

to be continued .....

Noggin characters - WIP

I've been fiddling with a few figures for a while to model as close as I can the main characters from Noggin the Nog. Some shots below of the figures so far with green stuff additions.

Firstly Nooka, Noggin the Nog and a rather oversize Graculus (must have been eating a lot of birdseed !)
Two palace guards with Thor Nogson in the centre
 Finally Nogbad the Bad

Some tidying up to do and then add horns to the helmets of a couple of figures. Then they can be painted.

The orginal inspiration below from left to right: Thor Nogson, Graculus, Nogbad the Bad, Prince Knut, Noggin the Nog and Nooka.

The Mages meet .....

Nerienda (known by most as Old Crone), Hunwald (Black Staff), Halldor (White Beard)  and Oswyn (Grey Coat) have gathered for a meeting at the rocky outcrop known as the Odin Stones. [they have met before see here]

Halldor: All is going well, the viking Erikson has the first clue to the location of the Whorled Cup.
Nerienda: Good, things are working well - he still has 6 more clues to find and then the final journey to retrieve the cup.
Hunwald: He has many leagues to travel. We must wait and be patient.
Oswyn: We have still not decided what action to take over the viking Angstromsen's taking of the Orb Stone of Isencak  and it's keeper (not to mention the slaughter of the Orb Maiden warriors)
Hunwald: It may be possible to direct Beornwulf the Bold and the last remaining Orb Maiden to retrieve the Orb Stone of Isencak and return it to its rightful resting place - I will do what I can .......
